final drive

Glenn--

As to the rear wheel tightening up when you torque the axle bolt, the spacer I
referred to as being the problem, if memory serve me right, is Honda
PN:42620-MN5-000, "collar, RR axle distance", in my Parts Catalog, p. 86, #6. I
think I had to use a VT1100 distance collar instead of the PC800 distance
collar. Whatever the case, I had a similar problem and the appropriate distance
collar was the solution.

Hopefully others will chime in.

a little (1/4 turn or so) and it spins fine. I thought maybe I tightened the
axle nut and the axle pinch clamp in the wrong sequence, so I loosened the axle
nut & pinch clamp and tapped the axle lightly to the right (1/8"-1/4"),
tightened the pinch clamp, and then tightened the axle nut, but the wheel still
binds when the axle nut is torqued snug. Not sure what to do. Any thoughts?

with the bike on the centerstand I started the engine and shifted into 1st gear.
The wheel spins fine, but when turning really slowly, with no throttle, there
seems to be some noise in the driveshaft. And also, with the engin off and
transmission engaged in 1st, I noticed a bit of play in the rear wheel. I guess
it's in the cush drive (or whatever it's called) or in the splines. I measured
it at approximately 1" at the tire OD. Is that about the normal amount of play?

the wheel spinning slowly and see if it's silent or not. I wish I had done this
before the final drive swap, but didn't think about it...
