I got the VT1100 Final drive in today. It went in the same as the PC
unit. The new piece is off an 04 VT1100 Shadow. All VT1100 final drives from
87-07 will work.
I swapped the Collar (part 18) and the Dust Guard (part 7) from the PC
unit to the new one. Used the PC drive shaft. The Shadow drive shaft is a couple
inches too short. Other than swapping a couple pieces over and adding gear oil
there was nothing extra needed.

How do it ride? Much better. Makes the bike smoother I think. The biggest
noticeable differences are in first and 4th and 5th gear. There is no feelable
difference in performance. It feels the same on acceleration. In 1st it makes it
less jerky and stretches the gear pretty well. I can actually get through the
intersection before grabbin second. Didn't need second gear for the parking lot.
4th feels more like 5th before the swap. 5th is more of an overdrive now.
At an indicated 75mph it cruised easy at about 4400rpm. 85mph was right at
5000rpm. I didn't feel like I was missing a gear. In it still has plenty guts.
Rolled on the throttle from 75 and it pulled to 105 and had some left.
