Carb T-Joint connects to what?Written by pcnz2004 on 3/25/2010 at 07:28 pmI thought exactly the same things you did when I found the "unconnected
connectors". The photos make it easy to identify what you are looking at, and I
will explain what I found.
Photo #1 Shows the carburetor evaporation outlet. On California models, this
barb is connected to the "air vent control valve" on all others it is simply
vented to atmosphere - ref. Sec. 5 pg. 6 of the Honda Service Manual.
Photo #2 Now this one is a strange one. I have not found a purpose for this one,
and no one I have ever communicated with knows either. It exits into the gas
filler compartment with a smaller hole than the bore of the barb ..... perhaps
the designers from Honda may be able to enlighten us?
Photo #3 Shows the connector for attaching a carburettor ballancing guage. It
should definately be a rubber cap, to prevent vaccum being drawn into the metal
tube. If you ever ballance your carbs, be sure to apply a little silicon spray
or grease to the inside of the cap. It makes it much easier to remove in future.
Hope this clears up some of the mystery ..... all except #2 which I am still
puzzled about.

a good cleaning. Normally I take plenty of pictures as I go so that I don't hook
stuff back up wrong (early onset dementia). I put the carbs back on the bike
yesterday, but it seems that I didn't take a good picture of what connected to
the rear side of the T-Joint (part 16026-MR5-671 on Grid D8 here:

from the T-Joint to the also empty nipple on the lower front right of the Fuel
Cap Tray (part 17521-MR5-000 on Grid G1 here:

always possible. I don't have any extra parts from the carb work which is always
a good sign. A 5/8" fuel line hose fits and right now I have it running from the
T-Joint to the Fuel Cap Tray, but it doesn't seem to me that it would really do
any good since the back side of the Fuel Cap Tray is open anyway. Maybe it
doesn't matter? Maybe I need a cap on the end of the T-Joint?
