The vacuum pump is what I use to purge the old fluid from the lines and
reservoir. When clear fluid starts to come out the caliper bleeder I
then manually pump/hold/bleed/tighten/release/repeat. The brakes and
clutch on the PC can be bled manually by one person. I'm vertically
challenged and had no problem reaching the lever and bleed nut at the
same time.

Only if you're not likely to lose sleep wondering if any air was trapped
under the bleed nipple. (Unless you remove the bleed nipple and wrap
several layers of teflon tape around it, air gets sucked past the
threads and could potentially trap air just behind the bleed nipple.)
That's why I do the final bleeding manually.

Not necessary. You'll just run the risk of getting fluid on plastic
parts and also have to buy new sealing washers for the "banjo bolts".

Only if you close the bleed nipple prior to the next pump of the lever.
Otherwise you'll just suck air bubbles back through the bleed nipple.

All of the above wisdom was acquired years ago using the time honored
"Oops, I shouldn't have done that!..." method of motorcycle
maintenance... ;-)
