Fuel smell source
Written by stanwalton... on 2/10/2011 at 09:16 pm

Hello,

Several people offered information conscerning the source of fuel smell on my
PC800 (1997 model-16Kmiles).
I've checked the petcock (I've a re-build kit on order), tightened the screws
but detected no leak or odor..

After changing the air filter, I discovered a connection that appears to be the
source of the leak.. I have a picture but I don't know where to post it..

If anyone has knowledge about this subject, and if you would tell me where to
send the picture, it would be most helpful if you could comment on the
function/nature of this plastic tube.

Refering to my Honda shop manual(page 5-6 of the 1989-1998 copy), I can not find
the name or function of the part which appears to be part of the vacuum system.
It is approximately 3/8 inch in diameter and black plastic tube.. It has
oil/fuel residue on the surface.

Please pardon the unprofessional description.

Thanks,
Stan
