DIY Windscreen extension - Part 1
Written by kf4pzz on 2/15/2011 at 12:11 am

I have been experimenting for a couple of years with a poly-carb windshield on a
Rifle base. You can see the results in the "Alan's 95 PC" album. I ended up
creating a straight crease in my homemade laminar lip since I couldn't get it to
bend without some distortion. It drastically cuts down on wind noise but I look
over the top of the shield. The Poly does scratch easily, mine has lots of
small scratches. The vents make a lot of difference during warm weather.

(I am going to make a shaping jig tomorrow and get another sheet of acrylic). It
needs to be sized better too, to fit in with the stock windscreen. I'm still not
sure how to attach permanantly: Some sort of clipping arrangement or just sink
3-4 holes and nylon bolts with wingnuts for easy removal?

can check the pictures under "Tad's PC" in the photo section. I used a
plexiglass scrap I had and shaped it after cutting it out. I shaped it by
putting the plexiglass over an aluminum D-shaped form and put it in the oven at
250F for a few minutes. Details of the extension, and how I attached it can be
seen in the pictures and posts related to the project (post number 85908). Good
luck,
