PC800 Darksider-That Car Tire Guy

Slash: Well...it seems you have already found some of the car tire information.
See post # 99026 for my end of second season report. It seems there are now
about 10 people running this BFG car tire on the back of their pc800. There was
a day this week the ice and snow was gone(Ohio) and I got to run my PC800 a few
miles. Enjoy fun & safe riding! Dave "YT" Hoover(aka-shotcoy)

called PC800 Darksider.....with a couple of pics of my PC with the CT on the
back and the balancing bb's that I used. Also mounted a Brigestone Battlax
BT-45(OEM sized-120/80H-17) rear tire backwards on the front of my PC a couple
of days ago, once again balanced with the airsoft bb's. Going great thus far. I
have been called a maverick by the dorkster. I'm sure others would call me no
more than a copycat, because I'm only doing what they are doing with their
Goldwings,Valkries, etc. and applying it to my PC. It certainly isn't rocket
science observing what others have sucessfully done and then applying it to your
own application/situation. As always....have fun and safe riding!!--- In

knowledgable(250,000+ motorcycle miles)friend who was talking about putting a
car tire(CT) on the rear of his Goldwing. He told me of several informative
websites on this
matter(http://lifeisaroad.com/stories/2004/10/27/theDarkSide.html,
cartiresonmotorcycles.com[I especially like the videos],
http://darkside.nwff.info/index.php). I was in dire need of a new rear tire for
my PC800. I surfed/researched these and other web sites for a couple of days.
Then on May 24, I "took the plunge" and joined the Darkside(mounting a CT on a
MC). I mounted a BFGoodrich Radial TA P155/80R-15 balanced with airsoft bb's on
the back of my PC. I have since rode 2,200 of the smoothest miles ever. Have
scraped both pegs numerous times. No problem!!

MC. However, there can be no question that it does have merit for some
people/MC's. Luvin' my new CT! Wishing you fun and safe riding!! Can't figure
out how to attach pics! Please advise!

The brand and size mentioned in the O.P - BFGoodrich Radial TA P155/80R-15 - is the only one I have heard people using. I just got my first C.T. a few days ago. Now, if I can find a shop that will mount it for me... -Tim Dearborn Blue

I would agree with those who might think it worth the risk to mount a CT on a cruiser, taking in mind the relatively low amount of lean angle, anyway.? I have read?the stuff you cite and particularly the lifeisaroad guy, who seems to have acc

Well....like I said... I have scraped the pegs numerous times. What I did not say is that I have not yet run on the sidewall(FYI-Now I'm saying it. I have not yet run on the sidewall). On the balancing bb's: I use the .28gram superheavyweight

I don't plan on doing the CT thing, but I am curious: How do you use BBs to balance the tire? Do you just chuck a few in before it goes on the rim? Don't they all just go all over in there and spun to the interior of the treadwall? Wild.

Chuck(aka russo): The bb's are inserted(aka-chucked in) after mounting the tire, just prior to airing it up and seating the bead. Enjoy fun & safe riding!!! --- In

They are the same as Dyna Beads. www.innovativebalancing.com They work great for me too, but many here consider them "snake-oil". Make up your own mind, don't let a few naysayers keep you from finding out for yourself.

My motor home (used) came with some kind of "balance discs" (using the same principle as the dyna beads). They are on all three axles and we ride very nicely. Dick MacInnes

I have run Dynabeads in my dually, rode like it was on glass, perfect balancing every time. I run large chunk of airsoft plastic bb's in each of my 36" Super Swamper (bias) SX's on the Jeep and they do a good job of keeping the beats fai
