Transitioning to the Dark Side - a Detailed Log
Written by timdearborn on 3/27/2011 at 01:06 am

RE: Dirt Bike: good to know the tire handles well on gravel. Don't have much of
that close by in here in suburban Chicago, so will be a while before I see any,
but I will eventually.

My comment about the PC not being a dirt bike was a gentle dig aimed at the
previous owner of my bike, who is a regular on this forum. I believe he dropped
my beloved Tuppie when offroading. Of course, if I give him too much of a hard
time, he will remind me that I also dropped the bike (on the other side) in his
driveway 15 mins after purchasing it.

BTW, it was your cornering photo scrapping metal and the 1000's of miles of
experience you have had on the BFG that gave me the confidence to look into a
C.T. in the first place.

There is little I can add, but mount the tire in warm conditions(and/or warm the
tire), clean/polish the rim prior to mounting, and carefully apply your chosen
tire lubricant(to both the tire & rim). I also agree with your description of
riding characteristics. I bought my 2nd BFG last fall for about $79(out the
door) from my local tire dealer. My 1st one will be wearing out soon as I have
over 20,000 miles on it(see post # 99026). I just checked at tires-easy.com and
found the BFG for $44.50 + 19.31(shipping to my zip code)= $63.81. Looks like a
helluva deal. However, I have no experience with this retailer. Best of luck
with your new tire. Enjoy fun & safe riding!

in my area. This BFG offers great stability on such roads and driveways.
