Avon Venom AM42 Rear Tire
Written by goldwingman40 on 4/13/2011 at 03:52 am

Jared,
Avon makes a tire in the PC front size, 120/80-17. It is a Roadrider model
listed as "universal" meaning it is good on front or rear. Some of the tire
stores still have it listed as a rear. The older stock will only have rear
listed on the sidewall but the latest will have both front and rear rotation
listed on sidewall, the front rotation is opposite that of the rear application.
I talked to the Avon engineers and they said that there is no difference in the
earlier and later tires except the sidewall labeling. They tested the tires for
front application and after it passed they changed the molds to indicate both
front and rear applications. I have ben running one for a while and like it very
much. It handles great and looks like it will last a long time with its deep
tread. When my rear tire wears out I am going to try the Venom rear 140/90-15, I
currently have a Shinko 230 and am not that happy with it. The previous tires
were Metzeler 880's.
Fred
