I have a VIP trunk and looking for a mounting rackWritten by swiftly1... on 5/20/2011 at 10:12 pmJust be careful! This idea puts the entire weight of the rack, box and contents,
and possibly a passenger leaning back, on the two welds joining the backrest
vertical supports to the seat frame. We have had some fail.

Subject: PC800: Re: Cheap, quick Givi mounting bracket for OEM backrest
Just to clarify, you'll need to drill mounting holes in the corner brace to line
up with the bolt holes in the back of the OEM backrest. The arm of the corner
brace will then extend back from the backrest similar to the profile of the Reid
Rack in the Files/Accessories/ReidRackMountView.jpg image.
When I hung 50lbs on each bracket, they only flexed, they didn't "bend." When I
hung 50lbs on both brackets together side by side, they barely flexed at all.
I don't even know if I'll actually need anything more than these two corner
braces to mount the Givi E250 mounting plate. I might bolt a metal plate to the
corner brace arms to better support the Givi E250 plate, but that might be
overkill. The Givi E128 TOP CASE MOUNT KIT for the KAWASAKI CONCOURS comes
with a flat metal plate as well as the E250 mounting plate itself and should
work perfectly with these corner braces.
