MUFFLER BLEEP NOISE

Hey JP,

Here are the pictures I took of how I did mine.

The muffler blank (glass pack) was about 13" long and about 3" in diameter.

Good luck with your repair,

I believe it's a baffle that becomes undone in the muffler. It requires opening the muffler and re-welding the baffle. Someone on here did it in the past but I can't put my finger on the relevant post at the moment. Someone else will chime in

The guy that was just selling his totaled 96 on here a week or two ago said he'd fixed his muffler. Check for those posts, and email him. Let us know what you find out, cuz it's a real PITA. -Scott

I resolved the problem on my last PC. What I found was the inner baffle had welds sticking off the outer circumference, ultimately wearing through the fiberglass batting (or the fiberglass shrinking due to age/heat/wear), and the baffle would

You are required to take pics and to post them so the next person can do this too. Although I have not done this, if I was, I would put the muffler in a band saw to cut as precise a straight cut at the back, make the mods internally, then

I am not looking at the bike at the moment, so I'm not sure. Could you chop it off and install a new bolt-on? Might be cool.

Not really with that big collector canister that sits in front of the rear tire. But I know that at least one or two people have done it. Iz -------------------------------------------------- From: "pc800dork" <

I'm looking at putting a new exhaust on mine as part of the fuel injection project. The short answer to this question is yes. There are two choices... either remove the muffler and put a slip-on in its place or (what I will do), remove the co

Sorry, Jerry, that was a good 7+ years ago since I last owned a PC. As it happened, I cut a window out of the side of the can with the intent (and accomplishment) of drilling a series of larger holes in the interior baffle. I stumbled upon th

Thank you for the feedback. What I'm wondering is, am I starting by cutting the rear "cap" part off and going in that way? (like you would to repack a 2 stroke silencer?) Then making the repair and welding it all back up? Or do I cut i

Here's the write up on it. Hope this helps. I replaced the rear section of the muffler with a stainless muffler blank. I cut the old baffle section off with a huge exhaust pipe cutter (a band saw or hack saw will get the job done.). The b

Thanks for the info. Once I get into it I will you know what I found and/or did. I am going to try a couple idea's first. I can't help but think of an old technician motto though "new is best". But these day's, free is better! -
