PC Brake Rotors
Written by spacetiger_j... on 6/4/2011 at 08:23 pm

Jeff,

A few things to consider:

1. Honda OEM (PC800)

Used or mail order (don't buy local as there over the counter costs are HIGH!)

2. Honda OEM (from other bikes)

You have 2 possibilities, stay with the stock 276mm discs or upgrade to 296mm
discs. There are lots of Honda bikes that used the 276mm discs:

I would suggest you consider going to 296mm discs; lots of options and an easy
bolt in operation:

You just need different front caliper brackets (here is a complete setup, you
just need the brackets, you can use your current calipers or the whole setup:

I think the older VFR750 model caliper brackets would work:

3. Aftermarket

well as the OEM. You might keep looking on ebay to find a set of rotors from a
lower mileage bike being parted out or bite the bullet and spend the little
extra to get the new OEM rotors but by all means only use OEM pads, they give
you the best stopping with little rotor wear. Many of the aftermarket tear up
the rotors bad.

brakes work well, but lately I've noticed a mid-frequency squeal from the front
brake at low speed, just before coming to a dead stop. Today I took the brakes
apart. The pads look good, but the rotors have a noticable wear ridge, and they
measure 4.05mm - 4.1mm thickness, which is just over the wear limit of 4.00mm.
