HELP!! No clutch

Mike,

If you are lucky, you might get by with a simple fix. Right above the clutch
lever is a reservoir that holds brake fluid to drive the clutch. I am pretty
sure if you look through the sight glass on it, you will see that it is low or
empty.

Cover your plastic first. Brake fluid will harm any paint it touches.

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the 2 screws holding the cover and
carefully lift off the cover and set it someplace clean. You don't want to
contaminate they system.

On the cover I believe it specifies DOT 4 brake fluid. That is what my 96 calls
for. From a new bottle of it, fill the reservoir to the full line. Carefully
replace the cover and pump the clutch until hopefully it starts working.

You may get by with this and you may get by for quite some time. However, there
is a reason why the fluid is gone. Unless you are really incredibly lucky and
the new fluid swells the seal that was leaking and you just happened to get the
air out of it, you will likely have to deal with the slave cylinder. Not sure
someone with no mechanical ability would want to tackle that. I haven't done it
yet on a PC so I don't have any idea how difficult or easy it is to get at and
rebuild.

If you do get it working again by just topping off the fluid, keep a close eye
on the sight glass so you can see how fast it is leaking. Don't let the fluid
get below the low mark. If you have to add again soon, you probably should take
it to a mechanic and get it fixed.
