Still need windshield help

I'm confused.

Is this a coating like they put on the front of video screens and the like? That
peels off?

Look at the pic I just posted (and if I have a chance, I'll try to remember to
take another pic or two tomorrow, REALLY close up) and tell me if what you see
could be caused by a coating. If so, I'll give it a try but I'd still rather put
a shorter screen on either way, so I hope the latest offer I got comes through.
(He's checking shipping costs.)

It's 2 a.m. and time to sleep. I'll check this in the a.m. and try to answer the
next replies tomorrow.
