Hey MrPacRat ... Question on your luggage rack
Written by tradewinds1964 on 6/30/2011 at 02:24 am

Very good point Mr. Rat.

I was thinking of those thin, but steel shelf brackets that go under the shelf
and clip into slots. Home De-Pot has them in a 16 inch length, though I measure
20 inches from the first bolt to the back of the seat.

I was also thinking about the backrest. It has 2 brackets sticking up vertically
and the cusion bolts into this. I could remove the cushion and I have 2 post
already sticking up with 2 bolts in each. I just need something L shaped and I
can drill 2 matching holes.

Hmmmmm....you are the creative inspiration my brain needed.

Thank you Mr. PacRat. Gonna use that tool container you have mounted under your
bike too. I like that idea. We should start a company. We can call it Ratting
Designs.

build two brackets that attach to the grab rails like the Givi does, then all
you need to do is bend them at the ends to support a bolted-on deck, like the
one I made from the cutting board.

the rack to attach it. So far, fabricators, auto shop, independant welders will
not touch my bike. Told them I just need a couple of pieces welded to the
existing frame I have for the passenger backrest. They won't do it. And the
custom bike shop will build me one, it should only cost anywhere from 200 to 400
bucks.

from the design. I still have not ruled out buying a small welder and trying it
myself. If it doesn't work, maybe I'll build me a Frankenstein. It's alive. It's
alive. IT'S ALIVE!!!
