Cam Plugs Need Replacing
Written by douglasvanb on 8/1/2011 at 04:02 pm

Hi Jim,

Don't get scared if you read my saga of replacing my cam plugs
(http://www.douglasvanbossuyt.com/2010/01/09/the-trouble-with-tappets/). It's
really an easy job. Just don't screw up like me :-)

Following the directions to do this:
http://www.directcon.net/lcshepp/PC800SMPage8-2.html you will be able to replace
the plugs. Note that one of the torque specs on that page is wrong (if I
remember correctly). I think it's #8 and it should be something more like 21
N-m... The correct value is in the front of the manual. Does anyone else know
if I'm remembering that correctly?

Cheers,

Douglas

Doug, It is #8 and should be the same as #9, 27 N-m or 20 Ft-Lbs. There is also no torque listed in the picthure for #7, 6mm bolts, which is in the chart in the front listed as 9 N-m, 7 Ft-Lbs. Fred --- In

Douglas: I have two questions. First do you still have your loose shim on your bookcase? There was a reason why it was in there but guessing where it goes will result in Chris Weiss' carb problems. He put too many or too thick a shim on an in
