Re: Valve stems
Written by rudyg1937 on 8/23/2011 at 11:53 pm

Gloria hates the Guzzi. Will not even try to go for a ride on it. So the 1998
PC800 with now all of almost 11k on it, goes out when we go together and when I
go alone I take the Guzzi, now with 22k on it. Spoiled SOB ain't I? Depending
on where Irene lands this weekend we may ride the PC down south for a few days.

Speaking of riding south. Look on a map for route 311 from route 64 near
Cambridge VA. A fantastic road but while on it stop at the Paint Bank General
Store. Great restaurant in the back of the store and a neat place anyway. I
hope to have lunch there this weekend.

are changed. The only drawback is the tab on the rim to support the stock valve
stem. I had my wheels powder coated (this bike also) so I did not want to grind
the tab off. I had to point the stems to the left. This makes it near
impossible to air up your tires on the side stand. A minor inconvenience of
airing up from the left on the center stand. Or you can grind off the tab.

angle stems that were the rigid type, where the wheel part is threaded, goes
through the rim, with a nut on the inside, gaskets on both sides. I have these
on two autos with aluminum wheels and like them, cause they never wear, until
the gaskets actually rot I guess and that is gradual, so you dont have sudden
deflation like on the stock type with the rubber elbow. Ask me how I know.
Anyone ever use these? Im getting ready to order new tires, partly because I
have another stem cracking, so the wheel needs broken down anyway.
