Re: Michelin has a new tire to fit the rear of our bikes.

The 140-90/15 size will fit nicely under the 89 models, it's the 150-90/15 size
that can cause a problem with the 89's. I measured a Shinko against an OEM size
Dunlop a couple of years ago. Both tires were new and mounted when I checked
them in my shop. The width dimensions were virtually identical, so I don't
hesitate to recommend that option for use on an 89 PC. I also know that Fred
Seyfarth has used the taller size on his 89 twice with no problems. Yes,
handling is different but whether it is good or bad is really a preference
issue. I've liked it so far (some brands better than others) and Fred is still
looking for the brand that fits his style better.

holes in the trunk on '89s, if what I read is true. 130/90-15 is also closer to
the tire height of the correct 140/80-15 stock fitment, so will affect handling
less [beside the fact that having tire widths closer to the same front-back will
make for a more sprightly feel in side-2-side transitions... ;-) ]

jealous except that the Shinko Tourmaster is still a good option for me...

They claim the new tire compound lasts twice as long as the competition's tires,
and that the new rubber compound is better in dry or wet weather.

might be the way to go. The price is certainly right. (I bet it goes up after
they sell a few of them.)
