Tall windshield users - do you look over or through?
Written by lcshepp on 3/1/2012 at 07:11 am

Hi,

> What do you prefer and why?

I prefer to see over.

If the windshield got fogged up and I was looking through it, it could
create problems.

I have a place along my route to work where the shield quickly and
completely fogs up. No rain. Not sure why this is. Anyhow, when that
happens I'm particularly glad I can see over it...

I rode a borrowed bike a few years back that had a +5 on it. Couldn't
see over it. Got into several hundred miles of rain and had to look
around or stand to see over the shield. Not fun.

My two cents.

I have a Tall stock windshield. I enjoy it because it reduces the air enough for me to wear a shorty helmet with a visor and not have the wind try and yank my head off. I am 6'3" and I see over the windshield. Never rode a bike with

Another question: Can you use a Laminar Lip to extend the windshield a few inches and look through that part? That might be handy. --- In

I have the Hondaline Tall, I'm 6'1" and I look over but find that the screen gives a lot of buffeting. If I duck slightly it improves but that pose is not practical for even a couple of minutes so I'm going to start trying shorter shield

I already have a chopped Honda windshield. It's no secret that with it chopped you will experience full-on wind, but it's not that bad. I am interested in hearing from those who ride with a tall enough windshield that they have to look th

I bought a +6 Clearview last year and I love it. I'm 6'2" and it's about noise high if I sit up straight and can duck down if needed. The biggest difference I noticed was how it deflected the wind off my hands, much better in co

Does anyone in the Dayton Ohio area [or within a couple hours PC800 drive] have an installed +5 or +6 that they'd be willing to let me test out. You're more than welcome to ride along on mine. I would like to be sure that it's rig

Oh, I guess ideally you'd look over it. But if you are like me, 5'11", and your secondhand PC came with a Clearview no. 5, you 'make do'. For now, it's working fine, no plans to change. It's actually nice in bad weather, I can slouch down

Mr. Rat...I'm 5'10", ok, 5'9 1/2 with old age....but I have a +6 and look through it with no chance of peering over the top. I love it because of complete isolation from the wind. But I have to be honest that there is one drawback. If

I prefer to see through the shield. The primary reason for that is that I always drive with my helmet shield open. If the windsheild is to short, the wind catches my helmet shield and either blows it closed, or rips my head off. I can't stand

Thanks for all the answers, guys. My windshield comes right about to my nose. It is my thought that a Laminar Lip might add just enough to the height to give me a choice of seeing through with attached or over if removed. Does that

Leland, I have experienced the same thing for years, as I would typically drive into the sun, going to and coming home from work. It was bad enough that I would be at work as much as two hours early in the height of summer, in order to be
