remove back tire?
Written by gibinmich on 3/4/2012 at 09:18 pm

If you can find the leak just plug it....I only tighten the axle nut with the
factory wrench. That way I know I can remove it next time. I think the 80lbs is
overkill...Don't lose the two rubber washers when you remove the light bar.
Don't overtighten the lightbar, its easy to turn the nut in the plastic and
break it. Use moly-60 grease on the rear splines...I use a two X four under the
tire to ease the wheel on and off the differential.

I'll manage to get this thing off. Normally I'd take it to a shop but the tire
won't hold enough air to ride it there, so I figured it would be cheaper to just
take it off rather than have it towed.

installation of that nut is very high. It's going to take a pretty high force
to loosen. Check the owners manual. It's the only one I've ever seen with
torque specs on that type of bolt. If you have the stock tool kit, you need
both large wrenches and the extender to create a tool long enough to have enough
leverage to loosen or tighten that nut. Removal of the light bar is also
covered in the user manual and does make it easier to get the tire out.
Disconnect the right side electrical connectors and then remember to re-attach
them when putting it back together.

With two bolts removed, you can remove the rear tail light assembly, which will
allow you to just roll the tire out the rear (assuming bike on center stand).
Just a thought.
