put bike on center stand
Written by gibinmich on 3/21/2012 at 11:53 am

All my street bikes have had centerstands, even my Bultaco enduro bike had a
centerstand, so putting the bike on the stand is second nature to me....but then
I hurt my right calf this winter and its not so easy anymore...but its getting
better. It can be a bear if the pavement is not level. Be extra careful when
things are wet!

You do what they say in this, and you're golden. Make sure it's in Neutral,
center it on the two pegs by rocking until you 'get' it there, stand with your
right leg on the, uh, stand, hold the left handle bar and the left pax grab bar,
and then just straighten up with your arms. Not really picking the bike up on
the stand, just sort of letting it rock backwards onto it.

posts if it's not level on the two pegs. You try to pick it up on one of the
two, you will have... well, a fun time, let's say. :p

the centerstand then! Just be careful you're not on too large an incline. And
gettin' it back off the stand? You can drive it off, if needed, just be
careful, but ONLY if it's goin' uphill...

Hi Gabe, I do it all the time and I am 5' 10" 170 lbs. This is what I do. Your best bet is to make sure the bike is on flat level ground to start off. Stand on the left side of the bike and put your right foot on the center s

Here's another thing a lot of riders fail to do...keep the spring and moving parts of the center stand lubricated. I always use chain wax, since it has a high shear factor and lasts the longest given water on the highways when it rains. Prope

Gabe, If the bike has been lowered, e.g. by sliding the triple tree down the forks or installing smaller diameter tires, it will be much more challenging. Practicing on an 'oldWing certainly makes the PC seem effortless, Seth

Yes, the PC is extremely easy to put on the center stand. I've had gotten very used to my Goldwings. The biggest trick to putting any bike on the center stand is DO NOT LIFT UP. PULL BACK. Your weight on the lever is enough to lift the bike a

Easy to do by following the techniques already posted. One BIG caution = only use the center stand on solid ground. I only use mine on concrete, never asphalt! If one leg sinks in to soft sun warmed asphalt over goes the bike. Just something

Haven't had my fall over yet, but I'm pretty sure that the property owners weren't too happy to find two divots in their asphalt. (And the bike did end up leaning to the right.) Shade helps a lot. --- In

Wynn, The small foot on the right side as compared to the left will let the right side sink into soft surfaces more than the left causing the bike to tip to the right. My ride off centerstand has a larger foot on the right along with some

I carry a small block of wood that is 4" by 3" and 3/4inch thick in my gas compartment for the rare times that I don't use the center stand; hot pavement/dirt. It has to be a hard wood, not pine, so it doesn't split. Make a few for

Yep, how I lost a mirror....Ground thaws in the spring, and then, the center stand sunk in on the right, and down she went. Now, about the only time I'm using the center stand is for oil changes....and I keep a small, pressure treated 2'x

Thank you all. The videos showing how to put a Goldwing on center stand really show the trick. Gabe --- In ipcrc@yahoo

Rick, Come to the Deal's Gap PC getogether in July 13 - 15 and you can do that, meet a lot of PC'ers, and have a good time. We can also show you a lot more good roads, many better than the Dragon. Fred --- In
