Riddle Me This!!!! Oil leak quiz!
Written by literidr on 3/22/2012 at 04:52 pm

Hey t-w,

There's an oil seal behind the clutch slave cylinder that leaks into a cavity
between the slave cylinder and the left engine cover. Sometimes that cavity can
hold a small amount of oil until you park on the side stand. I believe this is
the one that has to be replaced from the inside of the left engine cover, so you
need to decide how important it is to you to fix that small leak.

Hope this helps,
John Handford

When you find out, let me know. I've been trying to figure that one out on my bike for a couple years now. Cheers! Douglas --- In

Cam plug. The oil flows to that plug when the bike leans way over on the side stand. Thats way I never use the side stand, that and I don't know how.(: --- In

It's not the cam plugs on mine. They were replaced a few years ago and are tight as really tight things (drums?). No, this problem is deeper... Cheers! Douglas --- In

Could be a loose/leaking oil sending unit. Bought a PC for $600 'cause the owner couldn't figure out where the leak was coming from and got fed up trying to diagnosis it. Good luck. Share the ride, share the road, share the spirit.

I don't suppose this is close enough to be a leaking oil seal on the clutch lifter shaft that goes from the left side of the engine to the right side clutch. (That might be too far forward.) --- In

Hi Skye, I'm looking at the microfiche (crankcase page for those interested) and am not seeing what I would replace to stop a leaking oil sending unit? Would I just need to swap the whole unit out? Cheers from snowy Oregon!
