I bought two metal valve stems at my Honda dealer, one to replace the cracked
one and one for the next tire change in the rear. The stem is steel but the
donut is still rubber of course. Both of my cracked stems were where the stem
met the donut so the extra cost of the steel stems might be a waste of money.
Metal or not they still need to be changed every few years.
