Avon AM26 Roadrider Tire eval
Written by wbpc800 on 5/15/2012 at 01:33 am

Tim,

I too may not be all that in tune, but I know what I like;-) The buzzing may be
something specific to your tire. However, I don't think it is something with the
AM26. I was riding with a buddy just yesterday and I couldn't help but smile at
how smooth my bike was. Can't believe it is a twin - other than lower RPM
torque and the feel that gives.

I know the BFG in the rear really makes a difference in how smooth it is.
However, if the AM26 made it buzz, I would think that would show through.

My guess is that you have something else causing the buzz. Unless it is just
that particular tire. The guy that mounted mine was very particular with
balance. He hand cut the smallest weight he could get to make it just perfect. I
wonder if it is possible that balance could be the culprit?

I think I would also take a good look at how everything is mounted up there.
Check the brake caliper tolerances and perhaps re-torque the pinch bolts. Just
doesn't seem like something any new tire should do unless something is wrong
with the tire or the mount.

FWIW I run mine at 40.
