Snow Mobile Windshield
Written by revconprince on 5/25/2012 at 05:53 pm

While it would not make me shy away from the bike I would never consider
choosing this option. The reason is that most snowmobile windshields are made
from polycarbonate, so they will not crack when hit. All well and good, but
polycarbonate continues to cure all of its life, which means as it ages, it
eventually turns to powder. It is also not UV resistant, so it will turn yellow
when it gets old. Polycarbonate is soft, which is why it flexes, but that also
means it is more prone to scratches than Acrylic. Acrylic is the right choice
for a bike. Beside if you crash bad enough to break the windshield, you have a
lot more plastic to worry about replacing, so the windshield surviving is
probably a very small point.

designed to stay pliable when cold and (hopefully) survive a roll without
shattering, so keep that in mind before you whip out your credit card.

who is eyeing a stately black PC800. The bike has a very non-standard
windshield. It comes from a snow mobile! Picture of the bike with shield:

Googling shows that they retail for $50-100 online. Not sure of the exact model
but it appears we have yet another choice for windshields. Has anyone else seen
a PC with a snow mobile shield?
