No such thing as "an American made PC". Even though the PC was intended to be
designed AND built in the US, the Yen/Dollar exchange dictated that the
manufacture of the PC800 be moved entirely to Japan. So your PC was built in
Japan for the US market.

The gap is merely a result of age and the trunk being opened while on the
side-stand. The fix that has worked for me is to grab the trunk lid (while open
and the bike on the center-stand) and torque it the opposite way. Gently, but
firmly. The gap eventually reappears ( Have a 50L Givi back), so I don't worry
about it anymore. As long as the trunk remains waterproof, I won't even think
about it again.
