Headlight (Was 89 PC (New to Me)
Written by RudolphG on 9/23/2012 at 12:00 am

I have found the Phillips Vision+ bulbs and the Sylvania Ultra are brighter without using extra wattage. I have used an Electrical Connection relay setup and I currently have an Eastern Beaver Relay kit. I will not recommend one over the other though the relays are smaller on the Eastern Beaver kit but they both fit about the same. The relay makes a big difference in the brightness of the PC headlight as there is no voltage drop through light gauge wire and the switch contacts. The only drawback I see is I get about 10,000 miles to a Phillips bulb. Possibly the full voltage reaching the bulb shortens it's life but if I get a brighter light out of it then I call it a fair trade. I have not used the Sylvania long enough to see how long it will last. I always carry a spare H4 in the saddlebag and have changed it in under 10 minutes in a dark parking lot. Put dielectric grease on the plug connectors so the plug can be pulled off easily and the connector does not corrode.
Had my 98 parked next to another 98 at the gas pumps and my light looked bright white and the other one looked kind of yellowish.
