I'm also running HID on my bike. My bulb is the 6000K variety and it is bright white, with barely a hint of blue in it. I also had a problem with my light going out on me. As I paid attention to when it was going out, I realized that it was very voltage sensitive. When I was stopped at a light, especially when the fan would come on, when my system voltage dropped, my light would go out. I could keep the RPM's up and the light would stay on. To compensate for the voltage problem, I pulled 12v directly from the battery (switched of oourse) to the low beam imput on the oem headlight plug to power the HID transformer. (Hey Tim, I won't blind you next time you're lounging at the pool and I'm idling my engine while I'm gearing up to ride! I can wait till I'm ready to go before I light it up.)

Another side effect of the HID is static. If you're running a radio on your bike it'll cause you problems. My CB wouldn't receive at all until I installed a filter on the HID. It still affects my reception, but I can hear just fine in a group ride.

The up side is, I CAN SEE! At night the low beam lights up every thing around and the high beam focusses a tight horizontal beam far down the road. Adjust your beam level on your high setting and the low beam will take care of itself. It also gives you a high measure of visibility for daylight riding.

Hope this helps,
