Thanks for the overview and especially the moving pictures!!!way better than a Powerpoint or another phase graph.

Another mechanical failure that leads to an open with no output is the soder connection at the "Y" overheats/vibrates and fails to hold the coil tails together.

It would be nice to join these stator failures to some real numbers for our PC's. Although it's enough to know what's bad/good it's also good to know exactly what went wrong.

I guess my real question boils down is could a bad stator disable an R/R or set it on it's way to failure???

Also could Leland's shorted jumper cables have effected the R/R from it's output side?? I'm assuming that the diodes would be sized to not be effected by the amperage of the battery. Is it possible that the short could have changed the state or switched of any of the R/R components normal operation??
