I don't know what the total loss may have been (I always thought you could loose up to 15% with chain drive, a little more with a shaft), but most articles I saw cited higher HP at the crank - 65 HP, HP at the crank was about 53HP:
"...Fuel injection was also added and the power and torque gain was more than substantial: 65 hp at 8,000 rpm and 48.8 lb-ft at 6,500 rpm. In 2006, ABS was also introduced as an option."

I'm sure if you look at the 0-60 MPH times of the 2 bikes, you'd see a small difference. The PC had a time of about 5.7 sec. For a early 90's commuter bike, I think that was a very respectable number.

I believe the NT700V has a slightly shorter time to 60 (5.36 sec) if this article is correct (it also has a HP/Torque curve for the bike):

A bit better, but a still a bit slow. I would consider the difference between the bikes small as to be negligible.
