The wiring harness for the 89 only fits the 89. If you compare the wiring diagrams for the 89 w/ the others you'll see the plugs for the stator are different. I believe the 89 has 4 leads on the connector and the other years only have three coming from the stator. The 89 is a stand alone engine and needs the matching harness.

I sold the engine. The other I need for a rebuild. So can't help you there.
