MUFFLER CHIRP FIXED!!!!!!!!!!
Written by joelstaruck on 7/11/2013 at 12:00 am

I fixed the chirp!!! It was easy!!!!!!!! Ok guys, here is how to do it!!! With the bike running, I stuffed a crowbar in the muffler outlet. If, all the bikes are the same, the chirp will be in the last 2 inches of the muffler. I moved the crowbar around until I heard the chirp get noticeably louder. Then I pulled really hard on the crowbar and worked it around until the chirp was gone! The chirp is completely gone now!! I love it!! A simple fix and my bike is so much more enjoyable to ride. The exhaust outlet will get a bit beat up, but can be hammered back in shape after the chirp is gone. I was getting ready to cut the silencer off my bike and put a stainless turn-down pipe on. I figured I had nothing to lose, so I did the crowbar trick and I am so glad I did!! I hope this works for everyone!!! Just take your time and use the crowbar to find the chirp spot. Enjoy!!!!!!!

Nice. Just what did you do, not that I have the chirps. You need a bent bar or screwdriver and the noise is from an obstruction or sharp edge only a two inches in the exhaust? Alfred

Basically, the last baffle is pooling water up and the lower weld fails, I'm guessing (Cant' find an open one on Google.) However it happens, this piece of metal, now released from the weld, becomes a 'reed' like on a clarinet or obo

Trust me, if you get the chirp, it will drive you crazy! My chirp got very loud and sounded just like a VW bug. I was embarrassed to ride it. Now that the chirp is gone, I love to ride my PC again. The prybar trick was a last ditch effort to stop

I actually tried a screwdriver, but didnt work. I ended up using a long prybar. There is no obstruction, just a loose baffle. I tried denting the OUTSIDE of the can, but that doesnt work. The key is to slowly move the end of the prybar around in

So it sounds like this last baffle in the muffler is about as useful as the aerodynamic attachments on Formula 1 car front wings. I often see a car loosing one or more of these (very expensive) gadgets and the driver continues to go around the track
