Sorry to resurrect a dead thread but my bike was missing or slightly muffled popping sound when coasting approximately 1/4 throttle. I don't notice this noise at idle or high RPM. New plugs didn't help either.
So I opened up up the carbs removed all rubber parts and gave a good cleaning with carb cleaner and ultrasonic bath and noticed a 1/4 inch rip in one of the diaphragms and I have replaced the damaged diaphragm and piston. I went for a test drive and found the muffled popping sound significantly reduced but still there.
