It does work with the backrest, and the combo looks great. Why would you
bother designing another? And it's hell for stout. You can pick the bike
back up when it falls over with it. Ask me how I know. My GIVI rack was
about $65.

With the backrest you can't mount a GIVI box.

I understand that mounting a rack to the seat bolts would make for a
more robust rack -- but I this rack is basically available from Givi
now - though I understand that it may/or may not, work with the
backrest.
