Extra lights on the crashbars?

Hi Tom,

Being somewhat new to the PC I am wondering how you attached your lights under
the headlight?? I would like to mount lights farther apart and lower, but have
not decided how to do that.? I like the looks of the ones mounted below the
headlight, but think lights separated from the headlight would be more
noticeable?to oncoming traffic.

Hi Jim,
Having driven in the dark a great deal on more than one occassion,
here are my thoughts on extra lighting, and installing it on a vehicle.
Extra driving lights are great to help you avoid accidents,
pedestrians, small animals, and large animals, like deer. This is my
2nd PC and I have mounted thin rectangular fog lights under the
headlight assembly, and never have had a clearance issue.. They are just
$37.00 pair of Optilux 1400 lights from Susquehanna motorsports. The
mounting location under the headlight or on the fork tubes has been
selected because the lights don't vibrate as much, their forward to
provide the best 180 degree arc of light, and not distracting the
driver, by watching the bouncing light, especially if you are tired.
The problem with mounting anything on the plastic is that you are not
necessarilly getting a solid mounting surface, and the plastic will
crack over the long haul, but as a couple of other coasters have
pointed out to me, the air flow through the plastic is important to
cooling the engine, and transmission, so interupting it, may have
adverse effects. You may want to ask Leland Shepard about his setup, I
believe he and another coaster have something similiar to mine, plus
they have installed a amperage/wattage saving device that sounds really
cool.
I have installed driving lights on 4 motorcycles and they have been a
great benefit. The only bike I did not install them on was my Victory
Vegas, because? I put the xenon light kit on that bike for $400.00 but
it was also worth it. Motorcycles have only one light and small
electrical systems, so putting more light on the road is always a
benefit, day or night. Just me rambling on, for what its worth.
