...horn upgrade suggestions?
Written by eegah_yai on 4/30/2010 at 05:47 am

the Stebel won't fit in place of the stock horn without problems.
Believe me, I tried. Even took off the front forks twice to change the fork
fluid to make the forks stiffer so the horn would stop tapping the front fender.
It stopped, after changing the fork oil to 15wt, and adding extra oil. Well, it
stopped until I hit the mother of all potholes and knocked the horn right off of
the mount, in the middle of a long trip. Had to go to an auto parts store and
get one of those Fiamm highway blasters (that sound like a baby deer calling
it's mother), until I got another stebel mounted in a better way. You can hook
the Stebel up directly to the battery, as it isn't a constant draw like a heated
vest. Put a 20 amp fuse inline as per directions. The wiring diagram in the
files section shows how to do it. Keep your stock horn in place, in case of an
emergency.

space?...you do any tricks to get it in there? ...do I have to run that horn off
the battery, or can I attach those wires to the aux plug?...I'm already running
the '+' hotwire mod from the R/R to the battery terminal, and I don't want to
screw things up since I got things finally running right ;-)
