Thanks and next questions

You guys are da bomb!

After reading through all your posts today, I ordered a barender (two of us will
get to see how it works) AND the small PacSafe (found that on sale.) I didn't
know either of those existed (all my prior bikes have always had some kind of
helmet locks) and the PacSafe will be portable to other bikes, camping, etc.

And since one of my bar ends was missing, that will work perfect.

For those of you who seemed horrified I might drill into the T Dragon =8^O, the
reason I came up with that idea is the first day I rode him, it was to the
AspenCash rally, and there was a really nice Gold Wing in the lot with kitchen
hardware on it. It matched and looked good, so I thought why not?

But these are much safer, so again, thanks for the advice.

One other thing I forgot to mention yesterday.

I am another one of those who has a GL500.

I'm going to keep Grendal for my around-town bike (I figure he's good for 200K)
and use the T DRagon for longer trips.

Now I've just got to figure out what to do with with my 171K Kawasaki Concours.
(Anyone looking for a parts bike?)

I love the idea of shutting off the gas and cruising into a mini mart or the
like. (A mini mart was where I got one compliment.) You guys do have a sense of
humor. (Something that was quite a bit missing on my Concours list.)

I stopped by my mechanic today (he's two miles from my house and I really like
these guys) and as soon as he gets done replacing the final drive in Grendal,
I'm going to drop the T Dragon off for a once over. (Just to make sure the PO
didn't leave me any other surprises.)

Since I don't do ANY work myself (I'm just NOT mechanical ? please don't me
mean to me like other lists were), I'm going to have him install an accessory
plug as well as do the fuel gauge adjustment. (That REALLY is making me nervous.
First bike without a reserve, and the gauge doesn't read right. :-( )

So, I've printed out the "How to adjust the fuel gauge reading" from the files.
That's for an '89. Is it the same for my '95 and is there anything else I need
to give him?

Also, I've notice two places to mount the accessory plug: in the left-side glove
box or under the passenger footpeg. Is one preferred over the other? Is one
easier to do? (I don't have a lot of $$$$, but do want to get the PC set up to
my liking.)

Now, I'm hoping there's something I can do.

I live in the country where it's VERY dark with no garage. (All my bikes live
outside.) The biggest problem I'm having at night is seeing into the trunk. Has
anyone come up with a way of lighting the trunk? (I'm think of sticking one of
those battery-operated "hit it and it comes on" lights on the to inside.) Any
other suggestions? (Other than carrying my flashlight with me?)

Oh, and I've read of some people who don't ride their PCs in the summer heat.
Why? We've had record 108-110 degrees and I'm still riding! The only thing I'm a
mite concerned about is when in city (such as Roswell is "city") traffic, the
heat gauge goes up ALMOST to the red line. (Not quite, it doesn't tough it, but
comes close.)

The fan does come on and when I get going fast or stop, it comes right down.

Also, I've been reading about the noise from the BACK of the PC, but when the
fan is on, I get a high-pitched whistling noise that sounds like it's coming
from the fan. (It stops when it comes off.)

The Connie supposedly from the fuel tank (mine never did) but it was considered
a "feature." Is that the same with the whistling?

OK. Enough for now. One question leads to another and I don't want to bore you
with any more right now. I do promise pics soon.
