Electrical issue
Written by samuel.parro... on 6/30/2010 at 03:14 pm

Haha, didn't even realize there was a fuse under the seat. Upon closer
inspection, however, I did find the source of the problem, and managed to REALLY
go and break something... It was a fuse that I don't know how I missed, replaced
it and it worked for a bit and then blew again. Unfortunately that was my last
10A fuse. I knew I should use the same fuse but I was desperate to get this
working and go home (I was stuck at my parent's, and could only eat so much of
their food and listen to my mom watch Law and Order). SO... I put a 20A in
there. I realized the hard way that I was causing a short circuit when I would
try and place the switch in its proper position, the load contact would bump the
handlebar and give off a nice spark. None of the fuses were blown (still don't
know about the one under the seat, I'll have to check that next time I go over
to my parents) but NOTHING works. Turn the key on and it's like there is no
power at all. I checked the battery cause I didn't really know what else to do
and it was fine. You really have me hoping it's just that secret-seat-fuse and
that I didn't completely fry the electric system... Thanks for the help
Douglas!

ps Didn't mean to hijack the original thread, didn't realize the subject I used
would stick it on with the old one... whoops! lol

something... Seems to happen a LOT to me, haha. Many months ago the Engine
Stop switch quit working on me, and being the poor college student I am I simply
bypassed it completely and would turn the engine off with the key only.
Recently I figured I would try just a simple automotive rocker switch from
RadioShack and to my relief it worked! BUT, at some point from me testing it
out and then trying to figure out how to attach the switch to the handlebar
housing some mysterious bug has presented itself. Now, when I try and start the
bike it does absolutely nothing. All the lights work, the horn works, and I
could not find any fuse that was blown. Even if I touch the two wires for the
kill switch and try and start it nothing happens... Any suggestions? Thanks
guys!
