Problems with my PC
Written by pc800dork on 7/14/2010 at 09:55 pm

Even though you emptied the tank, I doubt that ALL of the old gas is out of the
system - yet. With the PC, I would start at the cheap end and work up. I doubt
you will have to replace the carbs - probably just a good cleaning.

Check all the vacuum tubing and make sure it isn't cracked and that the
connections are good.

Check to make sure that the petcock isn't leaking - do you smell gas when it
does run?

There is a fuel pump, but if the bike is running, it is probably okay. My guess
is a lot of cleaning, checking tubes, hoses, seals. Flushing ALL old fluids
out, etc.

Personally, I think your bike is just pissed about being left alone in a garage
with gas in the tank - she will come around when you show her some TLC.

> These are the following facts:
>
> 1. Brand new PC stored in garage "no climate control" for about 10 years, some
gas in tank.
> 2. A day ago installed a BS9 battery and added gas. *would the battery matter?
> 3. Upon ignition PC turned on but would not "Rev Up" past 1500 RPM.
> 4. Yesterday I did as one of the guys explained and siphoned the gas out of
tank and poured Techron and new gas

> (by the way the gas that I took out was abnormally yellow and had a paint
thinner odor)
> 5. I am ready to have a breakdown because I do not want any body touching my
baby!
> 6. I am planning to set up my garage with lighting and tools and set up to
take out the carburetor.
> 7. Is there anything else that I can check before I take the carburetor out.

> 9. What should I be careful with when I do check the carburetor.
> 10.How will a new carburetor cost?
> 11.What else can I do.
