Twist throttle won't return with grip puppies installed?
Written by bdpickett on 7/25/2010 at 05:25 pm

I used the Cable Care Kit from Protect All (
http://www.protectall.com/cablekitlong.aspx ). I bought mine at the local Honda
dealer; you can get them many places including Cycle Gear & JC Whitney. The kit
includes a "cable luber", and an aerosol can of lubricant. Attach the luber to
the end of a cable and tighten the seals, then insert the lubricant can's nozzle
into the luber and spray for a couple of seconds. Theoretically, all of the
lubricant is injected under pressure down inside the cable sheath - in practice
though, I also got a lot of spray on the outside - but that could just be me.
:-)

The improvement in throttle response after using the kit was amazing! Before,
the throttle would not return at all after releasing it, but after treating both
throttle cables for a couple seconds each, the throttle pops right back to its
stop after releasing it.

Be seeing you,

Puppies, but I did have a sticking throttle such as you described, and after
spraying lubricant down the cable sheaths, I saw a drastic improvement in
throttle response.

problem is that when I twist the throttle, it won't "rebound" or return. I have
not trimmed them, but did roll each end back over itself so that no part of the
grip is touching the ends of the throttle.
