Trunk strut replacement from Autozone
Written by unclemilty_lee on 8/12/2010 at 08:57 am

Fred,

That's great info. I did find at least some of those posts and I believe the
info. is in the files section as well. If I have a virtue patience isn't it so
I went for the instant gratification of a local, in-stock replacement.

have come up with many had replaced thier strut with parts fron McMaster-Carr
for about $14 or $14. You can get them in 10 pound incruments and various
lengthes. The stock strut is rated at 50 pounds and has slightly longer travel
than the distance between themounting holes with the trunk full open. I bought a
70 pound strut with about 2" less length when free but only slightly shorter
than the distance between mounting holes with the trunk full open, which opens
the trunk lid almost as far as the stock without putting the force on the
mounting brackets. You can read past post #73023 and there are several others

for $18.99. Length is exact. Might be a little strong but seemed to 'loosen
up' now that I've opened and closed the trunk a few times.
