I just put 4.221 gallons of gas in my PC!
Written by mlmiller1959 on 9/27/2010 at 07:03 pm

You know, I've skipped this thread even though it's been running a while, but
while yes, we should expect a gas gauge to work as advertised, such is not
usually the case in the 2-wheeled world. In fact, I don't think anybody trusts
the gauge on any MC or scooter.
I know the gauge on my '90 looks empty when it reaches the half-empty mark. I
do what I've always done on motorcycles: set the trip and look at the mileage.
Somewhere around 150 miles, I need to find a gas station.
I could look into the files on the site and bend the sender down to the right
level but so far, it's just not worth the trouble.

And I've never run dry.

At least a half-dozen times since I've owned this bike (only about four months
now.) :-(

I'm finding I have a love/hate relationship with a bike I lusted after for
years. One hate is the fact there's no reserve (first bike I've ever owned w/out
one) and the fuel gauge is woefully inadequate. (Yes, I know there's a fix, but
I'm no mechanic and I have zero money to have my mechanic do it.)

I live on this bike, and know I should fill up regularly, but I'm so used to a
reserve I let it go way too often then run out.

Another hate is I seem to be the only person in NM with a PC. :-( If there was
someone else in the state who KNEW the bike and could teach me about the ins and
outs of the bike (I do much better with hands-on help than written), it would
help, but I feel VERY alone out here.

Sorry for ranting.
