25000 miles later on the VT1100 experiment
Written by goldwingman40 on 9/29/2010 at 11:36 pm

Anton,
I forgot to say Yes Leland said he gets the best milage keeping staying at or
below 4k rpm's but he is talking about mileages well up in the 50 mpg. The best
mileage usually comes in the area close to where the horsepower and torque cross
in dyno curves. One problem occures when a vehicle system is geared too low then
the throttle is crouded trying to produce enough power to pull the weight and
drag. The power required to propel a vehicle faster goes up as the square of the
speed thus twice the speed takes four times the horsepower.

across, (excepting some of the more 'modded' bikes on this list) and gets the
same mileage or better than a stock one. It was worth it for me to do the swap,
plus I like messing around under the tupperware. Per Leland, the best mileage
seems to be at 4k and under, and the gearing and taller tire stretch that zone
out to 70+ mph.

(43 to 48 and as high as 54) weather in the mountain twisties or on the eway
from 60 to 85mph and I didn't lose any performance because of the lower diff
ratio with no extra work. The engine does not have any problems running the
stock rpm all the way up to 75k. Just look at the results Leland has had with
all his bikes.
