Thinking about going to the Dark Side1
Written by timdearborn on 9/23/2010 at 03:22 pm

Thanks Dave for the "fix". I am pretty serious about Dark-siding over the
off-season. If I do, I will try to document in detail my experience and any
riding differences I notice. I think this might be of interest, particularly to
newer riders like myself (I have all of 1 yr and 8K riding experience, 4K of
that on the PC800).

tread measurement tool/gauge today. Measured my BFG P155/80R15's tread depth at
5/32". That is after 16,250 miles on the back of my PC. New tread depth is
advertised at 12/32" on BFG's website. It is my understanding that the tire is
considered worn out at 2/32". That means I have used up 7 of the usable
10/32's(70%). This permits me to make a much better estimate(instead of a
guesstimate) of tire life. Based on this information I can expect to get about
23,200 total miles out of this tire. I suppose Grandma might get half that out
of a Dunlop(my last rear Dunlop was completely shot at 7,850). Enjoy fun & safe
riding! Dave "YT" Hoover

with it, the easier it will be for you to find your next "fix", thereby
furthering your addiction.

am thinking about the switching over off-season as well, but haven't done so
yet, so I can not speak from personal experience.

off-pavement, but I am sure lots will end up chiming in this thread. Haven't
had a good Dark-side post for, ... ah ... at least a couple of days, maybe even
a week. Starting to go in withdrawal.
