25000 miles later on the VT1100 experiment
Written by spacetiger_j... on 10/11/2010 at 01:08 am

Nancy,

The black plastic dust shield is different. I thing there are 3 bolts holding
it on, a simple swap out using your PC dust shield vs. the VT1100. I think you
can use the vt1100 as is, but the vt dust shield does not match up to the PC
wheel as nice.

service to install it next time I change rear tires. Thanks for the heads up on
the year requirement. Would you let me know if you needed anything else besides
the Final Drive for the conversion. I see some are sold alone and others
include the drive shaft and other parts. Mine was only the final drive and was
for $50.

end, and only the rear from '87 to '92 (As I recall, at least) will fit. I found
mine on Ebay after searching for 3 months, and got it for $85. I had my
mechanic install it and it took a little over an hour for him to complete it.
Total cost was around $150.

wasn't so smart.

could just order the gears only and disassemble your rear to put them in, I
think that's around half of that plus a lot of labor.
