OEM Hondaline HWY Boards
Written by revconprince on 10/17/2010 at 11:56 pm

Had a request to estimate the angles of the mounts. After some thought, I
concluded that the was a way to supply the info. I took some photos with the
bike on the center stand. The photo references a T-square, so it is perfectly
perpendicular to the ground. So if you print the photo, you should be able to
measure the angles referenced to the flat level ground, compared to how the bike
sits on the center stand. The last photo in the sequence show the angle compared
to the plastic crash bar cover. As it can be told, the angle is not straight
compared to anything, but if you reference to the floor, you should be able to
reproduce the same angles. I have around a 29" inseam, and the boards are a
little long for me, but not bad. If you are taller, you may want to change the
angle slightly.

The photos are high resolution, so you should be able to be pretty accurate.

Per comment about my welding, my Dad always told me the same thing - that a weld
is good if it doesn't break BUT in the same breath he would proceed to tell me
what was wrong with the weld. I guess I should have used bondo.

frame. I then welded a plate to screw the HWY board to. It was a bit of a trick
getting the board on the right angle. Took a lot of tack welding, twisting,
breaking and re-welding to get the angle right. Once I got the angle, I pulled
the crash bar to do the real weld. Don't really want to show too detailed shot
of the mount - then you would all know how poorly I weld.

bike. Bars are not that comfortable. Was surfing Ebay, and discovered people
were selling rear passenger boards, which gave me the idea. Found a set for 25
bucks. Re-painted them and the rest is history.
