More mods - wind defection for feet
Written by revconprince on 10/31/2010 at 07:26 pm

My oldest daughter who is 14 has just started riding with me over the last
month. The other day we were riding in a 30 - 40 mph cross wind. I warned her to
make sure she was hanging on good when we hit the freeway. Open spot in traffic,
and I cracked on it. We about 95. When we pulled over she was like "You weren't
kidding when you said to hang on!" LOL. So the end result is that the wind
deflectors have been tested to 95 mph, and are fine, including in a serious
crosswind.

The edges of the Acrylic actually are folded into the slots. They go in about 2
inches. They take a little twisting to get them in place. In addition, there is
a screw into the bottom of the HWY pegs, that keeps them from sliding forward,
which is the only way to take them off. They slide forward about 1.5", and then
you have to pry them out of the Tupperware.

As I was making them, I considered if I would ever make more. About half way
through the project, I figured out there was no way, unless one of these broke.
Its a project you do once. That and they aren't real perfect - definitely
"handcrafted".

I've thought about coming up with a way to put a vent hole in the bottom of the
crash bar cover that would blow radiator air down on your boot. Vent hole in
that location would not been seen and would not change the look of the bike.
Then partially block off the side vents behind the screen to deflect that air
down.

I am committed that all modifications should not change the look of the bike.
Every added piece must be in the same style as the original design. I tend to
not like modifications that prevent the bike from ever being returned to its
original look ie no cutting or drilling of the Tupperware.
