Charging system impending failure?
Written by Gwynethh on 11/14/2010 at 11:56 am

Some people have apparently soldered the wires directly to the R/R but I used
John Handfords method of attaching via the existing plug/connectors just to
parallel the existing wires.

It can function as two things. 1. Increase the effective wire gauge (and lower
resistance) hence less loss in an important part of the charging circuit and 2.
If run directly to the battery terminals, eliminate a couple of possible poor
connections. The poor connections can be temperature related.

You can gain 3/4 to 1 volt at the battery terminals.

The word version of the procedure is in the files/tech info area as
PC800 hot wire fix.doc

This is may be the least cost/ highest benefit mod that can be done on the
PC800.

All bow down to John Handford who has, in the greater glory of the Pacific
Coast, lowered our resistance.

until recently it showed very steady and predictable readings. This week I'm
seeing changes of 1-1.25 volts at steady speeds. Cruising on the highway at 70,
I'm seeing it read 11.9 to 12.4 to 13.1.
