Never heard of the Canyon Dancer I/II mount. I just did a search of it and now
know what this is. This would seem as good an upper anchor point as something
from the rear.

No issues with using the lower guards as anchor points, but unless there is a
front wheel piece that keeps the front wheel from sliding out (sideways), I
would not trust using the guards as the ONLY tie down points.

If you use only the guards, you must tie it down so some of the suspension is in
compression - especially the front. Many trailers do not have a suspension, so
bumps will transfer loads to the bike. If the suspension is not in compression
you will introduce some give in the tiedowns. If you are only using the [lower]
guard as anchor points and nothing is holding the front wheel - then the bike
will go over. Guess how I know this? Not on a PC... but you have been warned.

Be safe, use a front channel for the front wheel and an upper anchor point
(Canyon Dancer I/II can be had for less than $35, what do PC plastic pieces
run?). And, don't forget the compression.
