Carb Vacuum Pistons
Written by pgboyd on 1/1/2011 at 02:40 am

Okay, I should probably know this because I have already taken apart and rebuilt
two sets of PC800 carbs already, but are there supposed to be small slits in the
vacuum piston rubbers? I don't recall seeing them in any of the previous sets,
but the set I just got from eBay has them in both the number 1 and number 2
carbs. They're very small - maybe 1/4 inch long and you can only see them if
you hold the carbs up to the light and flex the rubber slightly. My curiosity
is up because they seem to be very uniformly placed around the bottom of the
rubber where it joins with the piston.

The seller claims he rode the bike and the carbs worked great. He's offered to
refund my money if I pay to send the carbs back, but at this point I would be
out about $20 for shipping to recover $60 - plus the time it will take me to put
the carbs back together. These are the dirtiest carbs I have ever seen in my
life.

Thanks
Phil
